About Zorinka Sapsovic (Leah, Haylaku)

I've always thought this photograph to be of my mother, not Zora, though it was kept with my mother's personal effects. I'm trying to figure out how there were photographs of Zora in her pre-teens or teens, considering she died in Terezin at age 14 and looks to be about this age in the photograph on her profile page. Perhaps it was Zora at a mature-looking 12 years old? She was always an old soul. Now she's an angel, no doubt thrilled to be reunited with her parents and sister. Esther

I just checked again the back of this photo, Zora's profile photo. My mother, Paula, wrote in Hungarian on the back. It says: "This is Fani's bigger child who died in the German camp. Her name is Haylanku". I remember Oren telling me that Aunt Helen said this was Zora's Jewish name, most probably the Hebrew name, Chaya, perhaps given to her in memory of her mother's sister who died young from blood poisoning. Zora's dress in the photo seems to me like a school dress and the photo looks like a professional photographer photo, reminds me of our graduation photos.

I also checked the writing on the back of Uncle David's photo written in Hungarian by his hand on January 21, 1946 in Brussels. It is January 18, 2009 today, just 2 days before my father's, Paul, birthday, January 20, and three days before the date on David's photograph. Dear Esther, by commenting on Zora's photo, you sent me to check the writings on the backs of these photos and we are receiving, by these dates, clear and powerfull communication from our angels who are watching over us. Zora (this was her given name) died of typhus at Terezin (Theresienstadt) concentration camp at age 14 in 1943, I believe it was. Details are in the interview with her sister, my mother Miryam, in my interview, "A Tale of Terezin." G-d rest her sainted soul.
