About dr. Hendrik George Bijstra
He worked for a phosphate mining company in Mexico and later ended up in Florida, which is rich in phosphates. He moved to Brooksville, FL around 1910 and lived there until his death. Brooksville was a very small town and he was probably its most distinctive resident, due to his education and accent. He wrote a column for the local newspaper that contained suggestions for improving the land, the agriculture, and the education of the area.
He never married.
