Willem Lubbertsen Van Westervelt
Of Willem, the emigrant, but little can be learned. His wife was Dirkyen or Dirkje Roelofse. He appears to have remained in New Amsterdam for a number of years, where he and his wife were church members, Jan. 3, 1667. Subsequently, he removed to Flatlands, L.I., where he came in possession of considerable lands. By his will, recorded in Liber 3, folio 10, Kings County Register's Office, he devised all his estate to his son Abraham Willemse Van Westervelt. He died prior to Sept. 1, 1697. Dirkje Roelofse, the wife of Willem Lubbertsen, died in the year 1704; by her will, dated Sept. 1, 1697, and recorded Aug. 22, 1704, she called herself Derike Williamse Van Westervelt, of the town of New Utrecht, in the King's County; on the Island of Nassau, in the province of New York, widow and relict of William Van Westervelt, late of Kingís County, deceased, devised to her son Abraham all property and named him as her sole executor. She was on the tax list of Flatlands, Sept., 1676. (Doc. Hist. N.Y., Vol. I., 489; Vol. IV., 156), also on Sept. 25, 1683 (Vol. II., 496).
