Vice-Admiral Charles Murray-Aynsley was born on 21 September 1821.1 He was the son of John Murray-Aynsley and Emma Sarah Peach.1 He married Augusta Judith Campion, daughter of William Gilbert Campion, on 9 December 1861.1 He died on 1 April 1901 at age 79.1

He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.).1 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral in the service of the Royal Navy.1
