Miss Catherine Nellie Johnston was born on 19th February, 1905, the daughter of Andrew Emslie Johnston and his wife Eliza (née Watson).

Nellie, her siblings and parents boarded the Titanic at Southampton as third class passengers. All were lost in the disaster. Their bodies, if recovered, were never identified.
