His parents and family moved west to Michigan in 1830 o 1831 with a general tide of immigration to new territory. His father and his family left New York at that particular time because he had become a co-signer on a note with a man who was unable to pay his debt. To clear how own name, his father sold his two farms in order to get money to pay the obligation, and subsequently purchased 80 acres of government land in Michigan. They settled in Superior township, Wasenaw County.

John Adam married Euphemia E. Dibble Feb 4 1822. There is a little known of Euphemia. They settled at Salem, Michigan. To them were born three girls, Martha Ann who married Henson Walker Jr., Eliza Abigail who married Gideon H. C. Gibbs, and Margaret M. who married Benjamin Fraklin Cutler.

He and his wife joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints about 1840. Soon afterward, he and Euphemia, their daughter Martha Ann and her husband Henson Walker Jr., traveled back to New York State to find out more about Mormonism. By that time, however, the body of the Church had established itself in Ohio, Missouri and was fast building new headquarters at Nauvoo, Ill. As a result of their trip east, John Adam and his family, Henson Walker Jr., and Martha Ann, moved to Nauvoo after disposing of their possessions at Salem, Michigan. At the age of 50, John Adam and wife, Euphemia- 49 and their daughter, Eliza Abigail Bouck and her husband, Gideon H. C. Gibbs and respectively made the trek to Utah. They came with the John Taylor company in the second ten, first fifty, of the fourth one hundred. Samuel Rolfe was the captain of their group. They departed June 17, 1847 and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley Sept 26, 1847. They were believed to have lived for a short time with other Pioneers in the old Fort in the Sixth Ward- 2-3 West and 3-4 South.

In 1849 John Adam Bouck married Elizabeth Howells. They had nine children- most of who lived in or around Salt Lake City, Utah.

He later located in the Sixteenth Ward and engaged in farming near the Jordan River, at one time owning many acres of ground. Some of this property is still in the possession of his descendants.

He was quiet, patient and industrious citizen being highly respected in his community. He passed away Dec 10, 1882 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
