About Nathaniel Smith Beach

Nathaniel, his wife Isabelle Adeline Saxton and son Albert Orlando left Michigan and went to Nahvoo Ill. and were there when the mobs ran them out. He came to the Salt Lake valley in the second wagon train to enter the valley along with president Larenzo Snow. He was a captain of ten. He was sent to settle the Sanpete Valley and built one of the first Cabins in Manti. It still stands at the Daughters of Pioneers Museum site in Manti. They had four more children, Lyman Smith, Isabelle D, Mary Ann and Daniel Marion He was a veteran of the Black Hawk War from its begining in Manti an faught for four summers being a captain of a calvery unit. He was in the first battle in Salina Canyon and many others. May you rest in peace Gandpa, until we meet again.
