Abraham Kohos died in his seventy-fourth year, on November 8, at the Private Patients' Pavilion of the Montreal General Hospital, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ernestine Aber Kohos; one daughter, Mrs. Jack K. Field; one granddaughter, Angela Susan Field. Funeral took place from Paperman's, Rabbi Wilfred Shuchat officiating. Burial was in King Edward Association cemetery. Shiva was at the home, 4596 Kingston Avenue. Mr. Kohos came to Montreal in 1900 and eight years later founded the ironworks, from which he retired in 1942. He was honorary president of the King Edward Sick Benefit Association of Montreal; a life member of the Corinthian Lodge No. 62?; and of Mount Horeb Chapter No. 6. In 1916, he was Noble Grand of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Excelsior Lodge No. 12. He was a member of the Builders' Exchange and a Justice of the Peace. He belonged for many years to Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue, and was a prominent member of the Masonic Order.
