About willie foster locklear, Sr
Willie Foster, Sr. was the son of Floyd and Flora Ransom Locklear. He married Marybelle Lowery on Aug. 14, 1920 in Saddletree, NC.
The following was taken from the Sep. 22, 1941 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:
Mr. Willie Foster Locklear, 42, well-known Saddletree farmer died late Tuesday evening at his home in Saddletree.
Mr. Locklear suffered an attack of heart dropsy and died within three weeks. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from Mount Moriah Baptist church by Rev. C. E. Locklear, assisted by his pastor, Rev. Godwin Hunt. Burial followed in the Oxendine cemetery.
He is survived by his widow, who before marriage was Miss Mary Bell Lowry; two sons, Willie, Jr. and Floyd Locklear of the home; five daughters, Sadie Rae, Anna Belle, Dorothy Jean, Josephine and Pylorus all of the home; three brothers, G. H. Locklear of St. Pauls; Julius and Luther Locklear, both of Lumberton; three sisters, Mrs. J. H. Oxendine of Pembroke, Mrs. Alford Chavis of Fairmont, Mrs. Oliver Sampson of Pembroke.
Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Ora Brewington.
Pallbearers were Dannie Chavis, L. A. Hammonds, Richard Hardin, Lonnie Hardin, H.P. Revels, Edmond Jacobs.
A nephew, Weniford Locklear, from Indian Head, Maryland, attended the funeral.
