About Guifré II, comte de Besalú
Count of Besalú (927-957), son and heir of Miró I the Young and Ava. Acted for a long time in collaboration with his mother and his brothers Sunifred II, Oliba I and Miró II. He founded the monastery of Saint Peter of Camprodon in a pre-existing church obtained through exchange with the bishop of Girona Gotmar. In February 952, he visited King Louis IV at Reims, and obtained from him two warrants, one for the monastery of Camprodon, and another on the allocation of the goods of the viscount Unifred, who had been found guilty of treason. He then had to pay homage to the king of France, and was the last Catalan count to do so. A cleric, Adalbert, along with his relatives, provoked a revolt against him, and having stormed the castle, Adalbert killed him. The county passed to his brother Sunifred II of Cerdanya.
