Wife of John Roberts McDonald of Alpine, TN.

Mary Loretta Smith was the sister of Fannie Lottie Smith McDonald. Fannie was married to Andrew Porter McDonald John Roberts McDonald's brother.

This is also where one of the other McDonald clans in the Overton County area intersect with Phillip McDonnold (born 1740) family. Hanna McDonald, Fannie's mother was the granddaughter of Alexander Sells McDonald born in Scotland in 1738. These McDonald's seem to come out of Virginia before settling in Overton County.

Both Fannie and Mary regained their mother's maiden name and both sisters seemed to have died young, Fannie died at age 29. Mary Loretta Smith also died at age 29. Both Andrew Porter and John Roberts McDonald remarried.
