About Joachim Zeisel

https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000141177410252

Dear Randy,

This time I went to local archive in Zdar nad Sazavou where town archive and Censuses of Rozsochy are stored today.

In Census 1857 there was only one Zeisel/Zeizl family listed, in House #19:

  • widdow Fr.ska Zeizl, born in 1800
  • son Alois Zeizl, born in 1833, note. soldier
  • son David Zeizl, born 1835, note. soldier
  • son Heinrich Zeizl, born February 16, 1837, erased indicating he moved out
  • son Emanuel recte Moritz Zeizl, born December 12, 1840, note:in Zlatkov, 2miles east of Rozsochy
  • daughter Hanny Zeizl, born 1828
  • daughter Karolina Zeizl, born 1845

The 1857 Census was supplemented with two papers (certificates of birth, see attached) on Heinrich and Emanuel Zeisels. The papers tell when those two were born, circumised and name of father: Joachim, and mother: Fanni nee Beer.

In the 1868 Census the family did not live in Rozsochy as a whole. However, in House #11, Jindrich (=Heinrich) Zeissel was listed:

  • Jindrich Zeissel, born 1837 in Roszochy, shopkeeper
  • wife Frantiska Zeissel, born 18?0 (1830?) in Roszochy, shopkeeper
  • step-son Alois Maier, born 1849 in Roszochy, single, helping hand in shop
  • step-son Leopold Maier, born 1854 inVojetin, single, helping hand in shop, domicile in Kromeriz
  • step-son Moritz Maier, born 1858 inVojetin, single, school student, domiciled in Kromeriz (he is erased, indicating he moved out)

In the same house lived Heinrich´s sister Karoline Zeissel (next page), born 1845, single, helping hand in shop, note: in Raclavice, today Horni Radslavice, 25miles WSS of Rozsochy, 5miles W of Velke Mezirici.

To learn as much as possible more, I checked another valuable source of data, Parish records which often also enlisted Jewish families in parish list of souls. In register 1847-1861, I found the family in house no. 19:

  • Joachim Zeisl, died in October 1854
  • Franciska Zeisl
  • son Alois, born in June 4, 1833, soldier
  • son David, born in December 29, 1835
  • son Heinrich, born in February 16, 1837
  • son Emanuel, born in December 12, 1840
  • daughter Hanny
  • daughter Karolina, born in December 16, 1845

In the register for 1862-1873, the family was also listed, but lately erased:

  • Franciska Zeisl, tradersman wife (handelsmanfrau), deceased
  • son Alois, born in June 4, 1833, married
  • son David, born in December 29, 1835, married
  • son Emanuel, born in December 12, 1840, married
  • daughter Hanny, born 1828, deceased
  • daughter Karolina, born in December 16, 1845, converted to catholicism, married R/Lorenz (?) Novotny. This must have happened after 1868 (the Census where she is listed still as Israelitische).

Ussually local archives contain records written in 1850 and later. I shall continue with estate (landlord) records to see the earlier records. Those shall be located in Landesarchiv in Brno.

Best regards,

Julius

Dear Randy,

Maybe you know that about Emanuel and Rosa Zeisel maybe you do not. I checked the records of Velke Mezirici since it covers also records of Radslavice where for some reasons Karoline Zeisel moved. I thought that she had relatives there.

Well, there are many Zeisels recorded in Velke Mezirici. Besides others, Emanuel and Rosa nee Reichman of Raab had 3 children born in Ober Raclawitz:

  1. Bertha Zeisel, born in February 28, 1866
  2. Sophia Zeisel, born in November 2, 1868
  3. Flora Zeisel, born December 2, 1869

Interestingly, there is a note that Emanuel Zeisel had domicile in Lomnice which clearly indicate that Joachim, his father, came from there. I will make photos and send it to you next week.

Alois Zeisel (Emanuel´s brother ?) and his wife Regina nee Zeisel lived near Velke Mezirici in Svojanov and then in Trnava near Trebic. Alois and Regina Zeisel had 2 children recorded:

  1. i Frida Zeisel, born in February 1, 1866 in Svojanov
  2. ii Isak Zeisel, born in January 4, 1868 in Trnava

I will report on other Zeisels as soon as I get better picture who is who. Some off zthose zeisles are from Lomnice, it needs some time to get it together. I will recheck Lomnice records as well.

Dear Randy,

I did not look ion neuren records, I shall look into Neuern Familiant book. This might show 2nd and 3rd borns...

Since I aways look for your lineages in any books, this is what I recovered from records of Jevicko, Moravia. In the section of Fremden, one can find a page with a list of Zeisel family members. It might indicate that for some time Joachim ZEISEL (and Michael ZEISEL, see below) were living in Jevicko.

father Joachim ZEISEL of RothMühl (today Radimer, at Bohemia-Moravia border)

mother Fanny née Naphtaly BEER, bestandman of RothMühl

i Johanna, born in October 15, 1826, RothMühl

ii Caroline, born in June 24, 1828, in Svojanov

iii Sophie, born in January 13, 1830, in Svojanov

iv Adeline, born in June 20, 1831, in Svojanov

v Moses, born in January 2, 1833, in Svojanov

(note: zeuge Naphtaly Beer, RothMühl)

vi Aloys, born in July 18, 1834, in Svojanov

(note: zeuge Michael Zeisel, 40 Huben (East Prussia?)

I believe that the dates for boys are actually dates of circumcission since we have birth date May 4, - year 1833 is rather mispeling if Moses was born at that year, but who knows...

vii David, born in January 15, 1836 in ROZSOCH no.19

There is an interesting note that David Zeisel was circumcised by Joseph Saphir of Lomnitz, zeuge Abraham Hofmann, fabrikant aus Lomnitz

viii Heinrich, born in September 16, 1837, in Rozsoch no.19

Then on the same page, there is another Zeisel family:

father Michael Zeisel, bestandman in 40 Huben

mother Esther Fradl, daughter of hiesiger (=Jevicko?) familiant Mayer LÖWY

i Marcus Löbl, born in 1823 in 40 Huben.

Interesting, isn´t it ?

Enjoy!

Julius
