Dear Pinkins Family,
It is with immense excitement that the 2013 Pinkins Family Reunion, PFR will be held in the great city of Chicago. Nicknamed the “Windy city” located on the shores of Lake Michigan resulting in fierce winds and brutally cold winters where only the toughest could thrive and survive. It should come as no surprise that it is home of two such great and charismatic men both holding the title FIRST. The FIRST African-American President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, and the FIRST African American Mayor of the city of Chicago, the late Harold Washington.
We have not held a reunion in the phenomenal and beautiful windy city since 1987, twenty-five years ago, and unfortunately, we Chicagoans were not in attendance at that glorious occasion. Upon discovering other family members, our big family grew even bigger. Ethelee Viola Hogan (Samee Pinkins lineage page 17 of the 2011 family reunion book) bore fourteen children including four sets of twins. After having attended several reunions since 2008 we have truly learned what BIG is. The PINKINS CLAN is indeed large and steadily multiplying and progressing; praise God.
So, in those twenty-five years not only have our family grown in size but also our beautiful city has evolved greatly and has become a main attraction to visitors from all facets of life for its vibrancy, architecture, history, music and more. It has also become a main attraction to movie producers, please refer to the 2013 Pinkins Family Reunion Facebook page for listings of some of the movies filmed in Chicago and get engaged by joining in on our Movies made in Chicago Trivia for a chance to win some awesome prizes at the Meet & Greet. Chicago has numerous activities for kids of all ages, concerts and just good eateries particularly in summertime.
The summer months are second to none and in this committees' opinion July is one of the absolute greatest months to visit Chicago; therefore, we have elected the dates of July 4th to July 7th for the 2013 Reunion event and what better way to celebrate the 4th of July than with family. We, Chicagoans, wholeheartedly embrace our great family tradition of fellowship, food, and fun and guarantee the 2013 reunion experience will be a mix of events that are engaging for all.
We are looking forward to celebrating with you at the 2013 Pinkins Family Reunion.
