This project is for the Geni-based app for ANU Museum of the Jewish People at Beit Hatfutsot. The app that will show visitors how they are connected to figures on display in the museum. It is a collection of persons who are in the museum's permanent exhibition. See https://geni.anumuseum.org.il/welcome

ANU Museum of the Jewish People presents the 4,000-year-old story of the Jewish people — past, present and future. Through a remarkable combination of images, exhibits, and models, as well as a unique database integrating family names, genealogy, Jewish music, films and photographs, the Museum plays an integral role in strengthening Jewish identity and perpetuating Jewish heritage worldwide.

The Museum of the Jewish People is fully renewed! The new core exhibition (as of March 2021) reflects the Jewish world of today. ANU – Museum of the Jewish People celebrates the multiculturalism of Jewish diversity and adopt an inclusive, pluralistic approach. The visitors are invited to join a fascinating journey that portrays the story of the Jewish people through the generations and up to the present time. The Museum represents all parts of the Jewish people and highlights the creative works and cultural riches of a variety of communities in different periods of history.

How to use the app.

The bottom line is that everyone needs to (1) have an account on Geni (it can be a free account) and (2) needs to be connected to the World Family Tree.

The first part is easy: Go to geni.com and sign up for a free account if you don’t already have one, and make sure to set and remember your password. (They can do this also in Hebrew by clicking on עברית at the very bottom.)

Second part: add people to your tree (again this can be done without paying for pro membership) until you get a blue tree match that identifies a duplicate profile. Click the matches (you get one free tree match) and follow the steps to merge the duplicate and when the merge is accepted by the manager of the other profile you should be connected to the World Family Tree. (It will work easier if the match is to a public profile, generally someone who is deceased, so keep building up your tree if the first merge doesn't get completed.) For a more detailed explanation see How do I add someone to my tree and Connecting to the Big Tree and How to Use Tree Matches.

Anyone who needs assistance can contact Randy Schoenberg, volunteer curator or by email at randols@bslaw.net. Or post a message to the discussion at https://www.geni.com/discussions/209064?msg=1447060

Further information and assistance can be found at Jewish Genealogy Portal Project and Jewish Genealogy Portal on Facebook.

Once you are on Geni and connected to the World Family Tree you just go to the new app at https://geni.anumuseum.org.il/welcome and follow the steps to log in to your Geni account. Then just wait a few minutes as it finds all the connections.
