Alcalá or Alcala is a Spanish surname. Alcalá (Spanish), Alcalà (Catalan), Alcala and the derivative Arcala are all ultimately derived (typically through placenames) from the Arabic word al-qalʿah (القلعة), meaning "the citadel" or "fortification".
This project aims to organize genealogical data on the Alcala family of Quezon, Philippines, including the political dynasty founded by siblings Hermilando Alcala and Anacleto Alcala.
This Alcala family is not known to be related to Alcala families in other parts of the Philippines such as Albay and Negros Occidental.
