In 1668 Emmanuel von Garben submitted papers to the Holy Roman Emperor King Leopold I outlining his family history. Due to this King Leopold confirmed him as a 'Knight of the empire'.
The papers he submitted are said to have mentioned and referenced 3 ancestors of noble standing:
- Dietengen Zeillner who was granted a coat-of-arms in 1015 by Emperor Heinrich II for services to the Emperor, and specifically: "For the fact that this person had brought back to the emperor a camel, a gift from Stephan I."
- Sixtus Emmanuel de Gilbelli, who it was claimed in 1349 was Governor of Peidmont.
- Hans Zeillner, for whom the original coat-of-arms was re-emphasised by Emperor Charles V in 1540.
Heinrich II - Henry ll "Saint Henry”, Holy Roman Emperor
Stefan I - Saint Stephen, 1st King of Hungary
Charles V - Charles V Habsburg King of Spain & Holy Roman Emperor
