Ariyannurkuzhiyil is a family name, of a few Central-Keralite syrian-christians, centered around a village called Thonackad, near Mavelikara in Kerala.
The earliest recorded (so far traced) ancestor of the Ariyannurkuzhiyil family is a name reference of one 'Potha Itty', of the 19th century. Most of the family branches and members from the subsequent descendant onwards has been recorded.
For those of you who are interested in deep ancestry investigation, a few of us did the National Geographic DNA test for the same and it came in with the following results (bit technical) :
- All males of Ariyannurkuzhiyil is of the Y-DNA haplogroup 'R1a1a1' (SNP Y40+ ) which is quite unlike the other syrian christian findings so far !
