At least 10-13,000 Black soldiers and about 50,000 support forces fought for the Confederate States Army (CSA), Navy (CSN), and Marine Corps (CSMC). This number includes slaves who were impressed into performing various tasks for the army, such as construction of fortifications and defenses, and driving wagons.
