Discsussion

  • Herein : An Alpha-List of Surnames to further research
  • These consist of Quaker families under the larger Settle MM
  • The concept here is to further identify those who lived in the Bolland region to the southwest of Settle, North Yorkshire and to the direct south of Bentham Meeting.
  • This is not to say that the same surnames do not exist in other meetings where they are also prominent.
  • The project is intended to help descendants trace their Quaker antecedents back to the precise Meetings and locales. The more specific focus is on Quaker families who subsequently moved to the Province of Pennsylvania at the end of the 17th century.
  • To indicate meeting member families which had members who emigrated to Pennsylvania Province a green check mark is shown. icn_check.gif

Location

Largely in the Ribble Valley district of Lancashire, England. Much of the north is in the Forest of Bowland. By feudal organization this was historically in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Largely rural near Newton, Easington, Slaidburn, Waddington.
