Bone Cemetery, Milledgeville, Georgia

At the intersection of US-441 and Martin Luther King Jr Drive, [in Milledgeville, Baldwin County, Georgia], travel east on Martin Luther King Jr Drive for 256 yards. [The] cemetery [is] on [the] ride side; adjacent to the road enclosed by a chain link fence.

In approximately 1940 it was determined that Milledgeville needed an African American cemetery. Russell G. Bone, who Bone Cemetery is named for, began the cemetery and his family sold the lots until all were acquired. There are approximately 1,750 graves in the cemetery. The city currently mows and generally maintains the cemetery.
