Profiles

Brown Ranch Cemetery is located in the Fisk Community about twelve miles south southwest of Coleman. To reach the cemetery, go one mile south of Fisk on FM 1026, turn left (east) and go one mile. The cemetery is located at a crossroad, where both the Methodist and Baptist Churches and the Brown Ranch school were located.

The land for the cemetery was given by the Moore family and the first grave was that of Edward Roper, who died April 9, 1911. The land for the Methodist Church was given by A. J. McDonald in 1906. The church had services until about 1930, then the building was given to Brown Ranch School. In later years, the cemetery committee put up a new chain link fence and enclosed the land on which the Methodist church had stood.

The Weir estate gave land for the Baptist Church. The Harmony Baptist Church was built in 1914, but became inactive in 2021. Additional land and a pavilion has been added to the west side to the cemetery. This land will be used for burial when the original cemetery has been filled.
