Background
According to Utusan Malaysia dated 14 July 2022, stated that
"In conjunction with the Aidil Adha celebration, a total of 500 family members descended from the late Daeng Kancik and the late Moderi @ Mudek gathered for the second time at Batu 6, Kampung Bugis, Penerok, here yesterday.
According to the organizing chairman, A. Latif Abdullah ( Private ) , 63, considering the Covid-19 pandemic is now moving into an endemic phase, the rally managed to attract the participation of beneficiaries from four countries namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei and Singapore.
The family members present were the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th generation descendants of Daeng Kancik and Moderi who arrived in Malaysia in 1868 and settled in Kampung Sungai Boh, Serkat.
According to history, the couple Daeng Kancik and Moderi who were born in Makassar, Indonesia had five children but the date of their death is unknown.
The first assembly was held in Batam, Indonesia in 2019 and this year has chosen Johor as the host in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.
So far, an estimated 2,000 family members of Daeng Kancik and Moderi live in four countries with various careers in the public, private sector, politicians, finance, education, religious figures, businessmen and others, he said."
Objective
To ensure all the profile information of Hj Daeng Kanchik's descendants are accurately preserved for future generations' reference. The first (1) generation clans comprised of five (5) siblings namely 1. Hj Talib, 2. Haji Nuh 3. Hj Abdul Fattah, 4. Sawiyah and 5. Mardiyah.
Numbering System
Under this project, we use a unique (almost patented) numbering system for all descendants, whereby, we based our "numbers" on our ancestors.
For example, mine is G4.1.4.4.1. In a nutshell, the last digit in the numbering system would be mine, i.e. being the eldest son in my family tree and so my number would be 1, then 2nd last number would be my parents' number, i.e. my mom is the 4th child in her family tree, then the 3rd last number would my grandparents' number, i.e. my grandfather (abdul manan) who is also the 4th child in his own family tree, and the next number would be my great grandparents' number, i.e. my great grandfather who is the 1st child in his family tree (talib) and lastly, the first digit "4" after G which depicts myself as being the "4th Generation" in the Daeng Kanchik family tree.
For another example, (https://www.geni.com/path/Ahmad+is+related+to+Jamal?from=6000000002473169620&path_type=blood&to=6000000003953041177 ) my uncle jamal (first cousin once removed - my mom's first cousin), would be G3.1.8.2. Uncle is 2nd in his family tree, whilst his father is the 8th child in the family tree.
Note: I cannot claim credit to the system, somebody within the Daeng Kanchik Family Tree must have come up with it. so feel free to use the system in your own family trees.
