Delta Rho Upsilon (ΔΡΥ) was founded as a local fraternity called the Pioneer Club on November 12, 1929 and Greek letters were adopted in the 1950s to avoid the confusion between the University's mascot and other student organizations. It has also been known as the Pioneer Fraternity in the 1940s and has always been a social fraternity in its history. Fraternity members and alumni are called "D.R.'s" or "Delta Rho's" and when the Little Sister organization existed the female auxiliary members were called "Little Sis's".
