Georgetown, once a bustling city due to silver mining and the railroads, was the victim of a fire and a smallpox epidemic in 1892. In 1893, the Silver Panic occurred, and the town was abandoned. In ten short years, there was no one left in the town.
The cemetery is the only testament to the people who once lived here.
