The remains of what are believed to be the Earls of Konigsfeld were discovered in 1993 during archaeological excavations in St. Margaretha's Church in Germany. The church was a family burial place for seven generations of male descendents from the House of Konigsfeld from 1546 to 1749.
The archaeological findings indicated that seven of eight individuals discovered were considered to be male descents of the House of Konigsfeld, connected patrilineally. Based on historical sources, the family tree for the House of Konigsfeld was reconstructed.
