Jewish Families of Meudt, Nassau, Germany

One of the earliest documented Jewish families of Meudt was Jakob Moyses and his wife, Sara both born before 1736. Their two children were Eva Jakob b. 1746 and David Jakob b. 1755, d. 1837. There were many descendants. When last names were adopted the Jewish families took the names: HEILBERG, LOWENSTSEIN, LAHRHEIM, STERN, FALKENSTEIN, KAHN, AND ALEXANDER.

Many of these families took mates from the neighboring town of Selters and emigrated to Cleveland, Cuyahoga, Ohio before the US Civil War.
