Jewish Cemetery in Poutnov
The village of Poutnov is located in the southeastern part of the Slavkovský les Protected Landscape Area, approximately 6 kilometres from the town of Teplá. The Jewish cemetery with an area of 324 square metres is one of the smallest Jewish burial grounds in Bohemia. You may find 47 tombstones in total, the oldest dating to the 18th century and the youngest to 1931. Mostly Jewish inhabitants from the villages in the vicinity of the town of Teplá are buried in the cemetery.
The grounds are enclosed by a severely damaged wall built from quarry stone. A group mostly consisting of volunteers from Germany is attempting to partially restore the long-forgotten cemetery.
