  • Mendel Golubok (deceased)
Vilnius household register (jewishgen) LCVA/64/6/10989 Is this him?

Here, I will be collecting profiles and sources that might be of use to us.

Profiles

Yitzchak Cohen - Cohen was Bashe's maiden name.

Bashe Kaminsky

Ida Beitelman née Kaminsky - daughter of an Ida? We have lots of Idas.

Sarah Breineh Kaminsky - Get myheritage pro and then merge the trees.

Ben-Zion Goldberg - is his family related to our Joseph and Leah Goldberg? Are they from Ashmyany? We have to find out if Minnie and Hyman married in the old country or in NYC.

Ofevits kids - look them up in Yad Vashem.

Scherer profile - Scheerer is the name of the town Anna Popkin listed as Elke's hometown. Was it actually her maiden name? Is this a family member?

YIVO files about Ashmyany - in Yiddish

Ozmiana gymnazium - two students, Gołubok Abel and Gołubok Mojżesz

1928 directory of Oszmiana? Gołubok A and Gołubok M worked in leather

Volozhin Yeshiva - according to Anna Popkin's book, a relative went there. Do they have records of attendance?

Mt. Jacob Cemetery - Get Minnie and Rubin's grave site so that you can find her parents' names, her Hebrew name, and date of birth

Site about Ashmyany Jews - do they have more sources?

Oshmany Jewish Site - do they have more sources?

Notes' Here we see the last name Kovner (which sounds like Kovno which Anna Popkin said in her book was where the Kaminskys were from). Even more interestingly, we see here official documents in Polish documenting births in Ashmyany (then called Ozmiania). So we should be able to order birth records for our Kaminskys.

Esther Kaminsky - same cemetery, same style as Harris Kaminsky's grave

- Search Leyba Goldberg Ashmyany on JewishGen. Could be related to our Goldbergs

- Isaac Kaminsky was listed as a rabbi in one of the censuses. Were there records of rabbis in NYC? For Anshei Oshmene or something like that. 68 E Broadway was the address of "his" synagogue. He taught Hebrew, so maybe he really was known around the neighborhood

- Social Security Application - Apply for Minnie's Social security application record. It might have her parents' or birth place on it

Chevra Anshe Oshmaner V'Anshei Trab

Simon Zaletsky was the rabbi of 68 E Broadway's synagogue. Not Isaac. Maybe this can lead us to more clues.

Samuel Shriro of Ashmyany who lived in Switzerland, Paris and Baku. Ölmillionär. Should be easier to find some trace of him.
