John William Webster was a noted builder/developer in and around Barnsley, Yorkshire. An example of his work is that he is credited as being the main builder of small town Cudworth in Yorkshire.

John William was one of 7 sons of Robert and Mary Anne (nee Glassell) - all but one (who died in childhood) of whom were involved in the building trade at one time or another. John William settled around Wakefield, latterly Barnsley, whilst his brothers spread their trade to other parts of the UK and United States.

The brother's father Robert was born in a small village, Oxwick, in Norfolk where he and his brothers and ancestors had worked as builders for several generations before being caught up in the Industrial Revolution and leaving Norfolk to seek their fortunes elsewhere.

Coming from a small village inevitably led to marriage to other families in the immediate area and we have traced the offspring of well over a thousand linked profiles from family names such as Collison, Parker, Quant etc some going back as far as 1450.

With such a good base, we hope to attract members of this project to add to the links we have already made.
