The intent of this project is to document as much history as possible of the life of Johnson Adams, a pioneer preacher in Tennessee and North Carolina in the early 1800s. He was born in 1785 in Tennessee and live most of his life in Blount and Sevier counties. He was active in the leadership of several churches in that area, including the Forks of the River Baptist Church, Red Bank Baptist Church and both baptist churches in Cades Cove.
He was pastor of the Cades Cove Primitive Baptist Church from 1833 until August 16, 1845, at which time he was removed for his belief in missions. He and a small group of others from the Primitive Baptist church then founded the Missionary Baptist Church in Cades Cove.
He has many descendants buried in the surrounding area - Wear's Valley, Townsend, Maryville.
I would like to gain a deeper knowledge of his family, specifically his ancestry. His burial location and parents remain unknown to me.
