Biography :

Appointed Acting paid Lance Sergeant 3.6.1915. Appointed Paid Lance Sergeant 20.6.1915 and Sergeant 22.9.1915. Wounded in action 25.9.1915. Rejoined 29.10.1915. Wounded in action during operations in Mesopotamia 6-8th January 1916.

Francis was born in Leicester 0n 13.7.1893 and Joined the Leicestershire regiment at an early age 17 years. He married Ellen Barnacle at the age of 26 she being 22 they were married on Christmas eve 1919 and resided in Leicester. They had a daughter Vera and a son who died at an early age. Frank & Ellen lived at 309 Gooding Avenue Braunstone Leicester. Ellen passed away 14.3.1988.
