Mollet from Schnottwil and Unterramsern in the Bucheggberg District of the Canton Solothurn in Switzerland

The Mollet Schnottwil Solothurn (SO) Switzerland (CH) family tree is based on a hard copy from Hanspeter Mollet (1930-2015), my cousin once removed. The Mollet Unterramsern SO CH family tree is based on an Internet search. The latter results were added in Geni.com and a possible link between the two trees was created by using two placeholders at the top of the Mollet Schnottwil SO CH tree. At the time it was not yet possible to create a new branch. I have not yet been successful to contact the managers of the Unterramsern tree. Schnottwil and Unterramsern are both located in the Bucheggberg district of the Canton Solothurn in Switzerland.

Place of origin appears to be only known in CH. It is very useful concept for ancestry research for people from CH. No such entry is available in Geni.com. My place of origin is Schnottwil, SO, CH. I was not born there, never lived there, but my ancestor lived there when place of origin was established in CH. I have a high school friend Harry Mollet (1939-2015) (Kantonsschule Aarau) whose place of origin is Unterramsern SO CH and should be in the Unterramsern SO CH tree but is not. I suspect that the Unterramsern SO CH tree was researched by descendants in the U.S. and they concentrated on descendent living in U.S., not on descendants still living in CH.

The edict of Nantes was rescinded in 1685. The first Mollet ancestors were born in Schnottwil SO CH and Unterramsern SO CH around 1750. It appears that 2-3 generations are missing. The first Huguenot Mollet(s) might have fled to Geneva and 1-2 generations later two brother (or cousins) established themselves in two neighboring villages in the Bucheggberg district of the Canton of Solothurn, namely Schnottwil SO CH and Unterramsern SO.
