This project is for those buried in Moutain View Cemetery, Altadena, Los Angeles County, California.

Mountain View Cemetery was established in 1882 by landowner Levi W Giddings and his son Joshua Reed Giddings on their own family property.

The cemetery came about because Levi's daughter, Laura, had been buried on the property his friend Col. Jabez Banbury, inside the Pasadena city limits. In 1905, when the city banned the practice of backyard burials, Levi had to move his daughter's remains to another location. He chose to establish a cemetery business on his property so that his daughter could be buried at home.

In the ensuing years, the Mausoleum located across the street on Marengo Avenue was added, and named the Mountain View Mausoleum. In addition, the Pasadena Mausoleum on Raymond Ave was also acquired. Today, all three locations are considered to be part of Mountain View Cemetery & Mausoleum.

Today, Mountain View Cemetery is still in the hands of the Giddings family. It is also known as Chapel of the Garden and Friends Burying Ground Pasadena.
