Genres
Vocal music is written in many different forms and styles which are often labeled within a particular genre of music.
These genres include
- popular music,

- religious music,
- secular music, and
- fusions of such genres.
Within these larger genres are many subgenres. For example, popular music would encompass
- blues,
- jazz,
- country music,
- easy listening,
- hip hop,
- rock music,
- and several other genres.
There may also be a subgenre within a subgenre such as vocalese and scat singing in jazz.
