The New Democratic Party of Quebec (in French: Nouveau Parti démocratique du Québec) (NPD-Québec or NPDQ) was a social-democratic political party in Quebec, Canada. The party originated from the Parti social démocratique du Québec (Social Democratic Party of Quebec) in 1963. After a split with the federal party over the question of Quebec independence, in 1994 the party renamed itself the Parti de la Democratie Socialiste (Party of Socialist Democracy). The Federal NDP restarted the Quebec party before the 2014 general election; the modern party was registered on January 30, 2014, as Nouveau Parti démocratique du Québec although no media has reported yet on any of its activites.
