This project is to find the roots of Chittilappilly and Chittinappilly families in Kerala. Few of the families on Chittinappilliy root selected Vallookkaran as their family name. Some of the members in Chittinappilly family commented that the ancestors of Chittinappilly family came from "Vaaloor" a place in Trissur, district of Kerala, thus their family known as "Vallookkaran".
While reading about history of Budhism in Kerala I found some interesting connections. Place names end with ssery, Palli etc are originated from Budhism related. The name palli, Meaning cureently church or mosque in Kerala and Srilanka is a loan word from ancient language Pali. Budhist palce of worship formerly known as Palli. Then the overtaking of hinduism changed it temple. But still there are places with ancient budhist temple named ending palli.
During one family meetup some one in the group commented or ancestors were converted from Bramins. But with this new information this is unlikely. People in Kerala obsessed with cast system, so its natural claim they are descents of higher cast root. My thought is we are more likely descents of Bhudists. The family name Chittinappilly is probably a Budhist family name.
