This project brings together Jewish family lineages with the surname Raskin-Rashkin-Rashin-Reshin-Czernin (and any other variants) who lived in the city of Babruysk, now in Belarus but formerly in the Russian Empire and USSR.
The surname in at least some families was pronounced with the initial vowel like "raisin." Some other possible surname variants are: Raykin, Raitsen, Chernin, Reskin, Reshkin.
Some descendants of these families show a genetic relationship, often distant, by genealogical DNA testing. This project is intended to help bring these people together to cooperatively explore whether archival record searching or additional DNA testing might be able to more firmly demonstrate the lineages' connections.
