- DELPORT: Jacques de la Porte came from Lille in French Flandres in 1699 on the ship Cattendyk, together with his wife, Sara Vitout - who he had married in Oct 1698 - & their eldest daughter, Maria. After five years they travelled back but he settled here with his second wife, Marie Buisset. He died in Stellenbosch.
