Sunset Memorial Gardens is located on 35th Avenue and 20th Street in Greeley Colorado (across from Home Depot). Since I was told that there are over 10,000 burials in this cemetery, it helps to go to the Administration Building on the grounds where they will do a look-up of your ancestor and even take you to where they are buried. It is a lovely cemetery.
The plant [sic] was filed in Weld County on July 10, 1952 for the Northwest Quarter of Section 24, Township 5 North, Range 66 West.
The land has been previously owned by H. and K. Zimmerman in the 1930’s, but was deeded to Sunset Memorial Gardens by C. F. and Luma M. Drescher. (Book 1329/page 427 at the Weld County Clerk and Recorder’s Office, Greeley, Colorado).
The first burial was Mrs. William C. (Maude) Tegtman in December of 1952, according to Ross Adamson of Adamson Mortuary. The cemetery is located at the intersection of the Highway #34 Bypass and 35th Avenue.
