The project 'Tall Club' is for both genders and all walks of life. Being tall is an experience in life shared by tall people, ordinary or notable. The project invites not only the exceptionally tall (like Anna Haining Bates and Robert Wadlow), but also the quite tall. Men who are 190 cm (6 ft 3 in) and women 180 cm (5 ft 11 in) are tall, but 100 years ago they were very tall. The important thing is that tallness has been a part of a person's identity, or a person is also known for being tall (like Abraham Lincoln).
The project started by adding well-known people, because it is impossible to add the unknow. Don't hesitate to add ordinary people and your quite tall relatives.
Trijntje Cornelisdochter Keever (1616-1633), 2.49 m (8 ft 2 in), from the Netherlands was perhaps the tallest woman ever in recorded history. She died from cancer when she was 17 years old and still growing. She was called 'The Big Girl'.
Daniel Cajanus (1704-1749), 2,47 m (8 ft 1.4 in) was a Finnish born performer and later a poet. He became wealthy and popular in the Netherlands (especially in his home town Haarlem) and London. They say that even today the Dutch may call big feet 'Cajanus voeten'.
