Clube da Esquina, in English "The Corner Club", was a Brazilian music movement created in the State of Minas Gerais. It is also the name of a double album from 1972 and its second part from 1979.
Clube da Esquina mixes several styles such as rock and roll, progressive rock, bossa nova, and jazz with Brazilian folk music (especially folk and country music from Minas Gerais) and, on top of that, has classical music influence. The Beatles and the Platters were also an important influence on "The Corner Club".
Clube da Esquina is usually regarded as the Brazilian musical movement that achieved the greatest international resonance together with the Bossa Nova musical movement in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
It is a very particular way of Art and thinking, carrying the heritage and cultural ways of Minas Gerais.
Raised in the state of Minas Gerais, he projected the folkloric and baroque culture of his places of origin into a very sophisticated song style, in which the influence of the Beatles, jazz, and Heitor Villa-Lobos is dissolved in a melos evocative and often oblivious to metric divisions.
Translation of the original in Italian below:
"Cresciuto nello stato di Minas Gerais, ha proiettato la cultura folclorica e barocca dei suoi luoghi d'origine in uno stile di canzone assai sofisticato, in cui l'influenza dei Beatles, del jazz, di H. Villa-Lobos si stempera in un melos evocativo e spesso incurante delle divisioni metriche."

"I am from South America
I know, you won't know
But now I'm a cowboy
I am from gold, I am you
I am from the world, I am from Minas Gerais"
Translated from:
"Eu sou da América do Sul
Eu sei, vocês não vão saber
Mas agora sou cowboy
Sou do ouro, eu sou vocês
Sou do mundo, sou Minas Gerais"

Historical tips of Minas Gerais
At the height of the gold cycle, in the 18th century, Ouro Preto was the largest city in the Americas. And probably the richest too.
Around 150,000 people walked along its slopes. Portuguese and other Europeans who arrived in the region were attracted by the gold mines that existed there. At that time Brazilians were Portuguese citizens, including the descendants of the Discovery Period. This movement brought great cultural and historical richness, but also problems, such as political conflicts.
