The Morden women were the backbone of the family since they bore the brunt of the hard work, the raising of children and the travel in highly difficult times. And they did it alone - the 2 husbands involved - Joseph and Ralph - died leaving them without any means of support.
I am writing a historical fiction book of the Morden family, specifically the 2 main branches that fled to Canada at the time of the American Revolution. The book is divided into 2 sections - the period 1715 - 1780 and the period 1780 - 1820. The period 1715 - 1780 covers the origins of the family in England, their journey to the Colonies in 1743, establishment in New York and the flight to Montreal (Joseph) and Niagara/Hamilton (Ralph's family - he was executed in 1780). The period 1780 - 1820+ follows Joseph's family(he died in 1777) from Montreal to the Bay of Quinte and Ralph's family (Ann Durham) to Hamilton in 1799. The reason for a "fiction" book is the need to fill in the everyday conversations and decisions while keeping the dates and other facts accurate. I hope to have Period 1 finished by September 30, 2019 and Period 2 by December 31, 2019.
I am finding it difficult to verify a lot of the info about the family since there are many people who record "facts" on the genealogical sites without verifying the source. I would welcome help from anyone who could assist with research.
