As I have ancestors involved, I want to chronicle the interconnections of the surnames mentioned (intermarriages of these families are quite frequent.. It was more of a family outing situation. If you look a the letters of Jesse Weber Bean you read of all these surnames.. These letters are attached to his and other profiles

  • Matheys ~• as in State Sen. John Matheys
  • Bean ~• as in the author of the piece and his father and perhaps the author's oldest brother as well
  • Crawford
  • Owen ~• descendant of the Gen."Mad" Anthony Wayne family
    • also: an Owen married a Mathey; a Bean married an Owen
  • Schrack ~• a Schrack married a Norris (as in Norristown and Norriton)
  • Shearer ~• Augustus Shearer married a Shrack
  • Markley
  • Weber ~• the author's mother, Mary Weber and perhaps her brothers?
  • Carson

The participants might have availed themselves of stage coach service: see: https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000200759940829

This was som 30 years earlier, but ot shows a pattern for travel in those days..

Other organizations to look at:

  1. The State Legislature which included a Bean and a Mathey
  2. The First Montgomery Troop = Shearer, (mult.) Mathey, (mult.) Bean

In editing/writing this piece, Theodore Weber Bean was taking a trip down memory lane for his family and friends. He would have been too young to have participated unless he tagged along as a child... It was his father William who was in the State Leg. with the Hon. John Mathey's

The author's parents may have regaled Theo. with stories of their high times at this Yellow Springs spa.

from following this, we can surmise that those in Norriton/Norristown might board the Reading Railroad and ride a short way to Phoenixville and then avail themselves of a coach from Phoenixville to Yellow Spring.. the necessity of a pvt. buggy ride would be averted.
