This project is for descendants of the Ziv Rabbinic family in Lithuania in the 1600 - 1900s. The founder of this family is Arziel ben Yehudah (d 1748) who was the fist rabbi in Kovno in the late 1600s early 1700s. His son Yehudah Leib took the Ziv surname in 1804. There are records for other Zivs from that period which include Pinchas, Ephriam, Orel, and others. During the 1800s there were multiple Zivs with the common name Azirel, Gershon, Ephraim, and Yehudah. We hope by pooling resources we can help resolve some of the myseries here. In particular I hope participants will provice their GEDmatch id if they have one and consent to the use of that ID to run tests to compare the DNA of various members of the proejct.
