This Project was conceived
- to discover things about the Wildman family
- to investigate the related Tatham aka Tathame family > a supplementary document is added to that effect. This was seen necessary because of the supposition that the father of Elizabeth Wildman, Quaker Martyr (1617-1677) was a Tatham. As of Feb. 2022, we now know that this Elizabeth was bapt. in the Church of England. The Quaker faith did not exist at the time of her birth. We 've established that Elizabeth the Quaker martyr was born a Tatham. Marmaduke seen in Besse's Sufferings is her Quaker cousin.
- be not confused, as there is a town named Tatham and a family named Tatham and a parish named Tatham
some earlier background
from wikipedia: " In 1086 the Domesday Book listed on folio 301v[4] under Craven Torntun & in Borch, Orm vi curactes ad geld. – that is in Thornton in Lonsdale with Burrow-with-Burrow Orm has circa 720 acres of plough-land to be taxed. This manor belonged to Orm, one of the family of Norse Noblemen who held the most land in Northern England. All estates would also include grazing land but since only arable land was tallied their total area can only be induced."
"John, son and heir of Sir John de Tatham in 1290 gave all his land of Masongill in Thornton to John de Thornton and Berletta his wife.
In 1404 the manor of Masongill was released to Sir Thomas Tunstall, William his son and Anne wife of William.
Sir Richard Tunstall, a Lancastrian, attainted in 1461 ( but later pardoned and restored,) granted in that year his manor of Masongill with the advowson of Thornton in Lonsdale to his son William who had married Anne. ."†

location
On the west side of the Yorkshire Dales, above Settle and so very near Ingleton, that the two parishes are virtually the same place by modern standards.
"Lonsdale Name Meaning. English: habitational name from places in Lancashire and southern Cumbria, named in Old English as Lunesdæl, from the river name Lune + dæl 'valley'. This ancient British river name is the same as in the first element in Lancaster, through which city the river runs."
