Vaiclaukis, Lithuania Residency Project

The Vaiclaukis, Lithuania Residency Project, using most of its data from www.metrikai.lt, attempts to create profiles and family connections for the residents who lived in this small village in Lithuania. My great-grandparents (Juozas Sunskis and Ona Pilipaite), and my grandfather (Petras Sunskis) were from this community which was part of Alvitas Parish (Alvito RKB). Because most records for this area were destroyed during WWI and WWII, attempts to document these families is challenging.

Some of the Vaiclaukis residents emigrated to the United States prior to WWI, and others later became refugees post WWII and as Displaced Persons emigrated to the United States, Canada, Australia, or South America. Those who remained in or near Vaiclaukis are the most difficult to research.
