The Parish of Ingleton
"The parish lies in the western extremity of North Yorkshire. Covering over fourteen thousand acres, with land rising from approximately 209 metres in the river valley to the peak of Whernside at 736 metres, to the west and the summit of Ingleborough at 723 metres, to the east, it is essentially high moorland, sheep grazing country, with cattle on the lower pastures. The population of the township of Ingleton has been estimated at c.450 in 1530 and c.650 in 1623. By 1700 it had risen to c.750."
Process
- Individual wills are linked to profiles on Geni.
- Family members mentioned in these will provide pedigrees that are, in turn, the information that helps build the trees around each of these individuals.
- In many cases these can be cross-referenced with christening, marriage and burial records available from multiple other sources.
- Here on Geni, there are other sub-projects where some of these records have been tabulated and/or referenced for ease of use.
- The Master Project includes a list of all sub projects.
- The initial focus centered on the <Wildman> surname. Consequentially you will see many references to that name but do add others here.
- The wills cover many surnames. These are listed in what is called: The Glossary of Surnames, to keep things simple.
- The eventual prospect would be to handle each of the wills fund in Voices of the Past with an entry in the list below. This task is left for anyone wishing to become involved.
Your Options
- Please add the profiles of anyone mentioned in these wills but, please, no one else.

The Glossary of Surnames
~• Please √ Check off each surname after all will of each surname is completed. This must include three things: 1) adding the individual in the Alpha List 2) Making certain a profile for that person is added on Geni and 3) cross-referencing is back to the Alpha list so that is shows up high-lighted in blue.
