Oona's Side Note:
Despite what the "others" say, this is the way I will break down the generations. Generations should be based on the current situation of the children of ten through nineteen year olds because they have the observational skills of watching and living their world. You can not really base a generation on the first ten years because these are young children under the control of their parents/guardians. There will always be a crossover, even in the cultural identity of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. The early 80s were very 1970s like and the early 1990s were very 1980s like) This is similar to those children who are born at the end of the year (September - December), like me in November 1978. Two months in the 1970s does not really constitute experiencing the 1970s. Perhaps, this may be the reason for school districts to cut off the age entry of September (autumn/winter babies would have to wait until the next year to enter school. always being "older" in their class).
This is my breakdown, if you disagree, then you can create another project that aligns with your thought process. Nonetheless, is this not what the problem of Geneology is: the inconsistency of the way we identify and record each other?! Just like the explanation of religion: the reinterpretation of one religion to another (i.e. Judaism to Christian to Muslim).
I feel like creating this project, will get my generation label edits through. If you do not agree, then you do not need to add yourself. People who start seeing my logic can add themselves and add to my line of thought.
In the meantime, I am tracking the death rate of Gen Z}, because I notice they are dying young (20s-30s). Gen Z children are also the first generation Ferility Treatment was used and the growing "multiple births" (i.e. Gosselin sextuplets, Suleman octuplets, Dilley sextuplets, Chukwu octuplets, Dionne quintuplets). Let us not forget the growing problem of Mass (School) Shootings in this generation.
By the way, I heard the term "Xennial" and interpreted it as XYZ, in which most X words are pronounced as a Z sound. Which is a great term to include all three groups in one word. It seems like people forget Millennial is just Gen Y, the monkey in the middle of the three. Often, these three are the three siblings: older, young; older, middle and younger), with Boomer parents. Of course, there are outliers. Intellectual families typically have their families late, the parents of the Xennial children could be before Boomers (i.e. my adoptive family). Traditional, typically "small town" mentality people like to keep the tradition of "getting married and popping out babies" at the age of twenties. Now, we have more teenage pregnancies after the Teen Mom craze of the 1990s. Now, we will have generations of children having children (i.e. Millennial parents with Gen Z children) - they are Millennials because Gen Z were tiny prepubescent children and thus can not be teen pregnant, they popped out Gen Alpha children.
It appears there will be multiple interpretations of labeling generations like there are multiple versions of religion.
