There are three de Ridder families listed in “SA Genealogies” vol 9, Genealogical Institute of SA, Stellenbosch, 2004”. These trees have been added to GENi.
The purpose of his project is to develop the de Ridder trees and try to fit in some references as yet not linked to any of the trees. It would be good to establish accurate trees for this family.

SV/PROG 1 Hendrik de Ridder
Arrived 26 Jan 1818 in Port Elizabeth. Married Susanna Elisabeth Smit on 5 Jul 1818 at George.
NOTE: PAMA - Die Groot Afrikaanse Familie Naamboek : 1983 ISBN 0 791 1561 0 (see attached image) has his name as Johannes de Ridder. It would be good to establish which is correct.
SV/PROG 2 Johannes de Ridder
Arrived 1857. Born 9 Oct 1833 Rotterdam. Died 31 Oct 1896 at Sanderton. Married Martha Magdalena Jacoba de Plessis (1846-1900) on 11 May 1863.
SV/PROG 3 Thomas de Ridder
Brother of Johannes SV/PROG 2. Arrived 23 Oct 1859 on board Hendrik Willem. Born 14 Oct 1835 Rotterdam. Died 2 Aug 1916 . Married Heiltje Elisabeth Oosthuizen (1836-1880) on 19 Sep 1862.

- Catherina Johanna de Ridder died c 1933; married to Thomas Joseph Barnes.
- Jan Benjamin Christoffel de Ridder born 11 Feb 1867, Oudtshoorn. Died 1918. Married Magdalen Olivier
