

"Universal Jewish Encyclopedia"--CORIAT, family of Jewish scholars who lived in Morocco in the 16th to 19th centuries. The name is derived from Coria, a city in Spain. The earliest known member of the family, Isaac ibn Coriat, was rabbi in Marrakesh in the latter part of the 16th century and wrote sveral Cabalistic works which are no longer extant.
"Encylocpedia Judaica"--CORIAT, family of scholars originating in Marrakesh. The first known member was Isaac Coriat d.1580, dayyan of the community, kabbalist, and author of works of which only fragments, published in the writings of his decendants, have survived.
